Aquatic Conservation Research Lab

I joined the Aquatic Conservation Research lab as a graduate student in the spring of 2015. As a graduate researcher I will be investigating the influences of artificial light sources on benthic and emergent aquatic insects in the southern Appalachian Mountains. To date, few studies have looked at aquatic invertebrates in relation to the illumination of stream and riparian habitats. I hope to identify what kinds of light sources and spectral characteristics are most detrimental to the survival, movement and reproduction of these taxa.
