I have been assisting the ACRL lab since 2013 as an undergraduate and have gotten the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Gangloff and his graduate students on projects across western NC and MS. These projects have been focused on collection and conservation of several groups of aquatic taxa including fish, crayfish, salamanders and freshwater mussels. My undergraduate research involves the study of how small dams affect crayfish population genetics, with a focus on the New River crayfish (Cambarus chasmodactylus), a local endemic species.
